Laura will join the party with Jordan Roth & a fabulous contingent of Broadway personalities on the live Periscope show Making Mondays!
From the Wall Street Journal:
It’s like having a peephole into an improv workshop brimming with Broadway insiders.
The theater gathering, known as “Making Mondays,” [is] broadcast from the iPhone of host and emcee, Mr. Roth, who is also president of Jujamcyn Theaters.
Launched in October as a weekly happening, “Making Mondays” has nothing to sell, though it does cultivate theater fans: Mr. Roth has more than 4,500 Periscope followers, many of whom interact by sending in ideas or tapping the screen, which produces a heart that signifies users’ appreciation. Some take snapshots and tweet to Mr. Roth, who has 23,700-plus Twitter followers.
The goal, he said, is to encourage idea-generating people to be spontaneously creative together. “So many of us spend our days in methodical, planned creativity or in sales of creative endeavors,” said Mr. Roth. “But the ability to come in a room, be inspired by who is around you and make something? That is liberating.”
“The concept of a traditional variety show, reinvented, is one of the most interesting and original ones we’ve seen on Periscope,” said the app’s community manager Lili Salzberg.
